A Ghost Story
Chapter 1

When I was young on Earth I was always curious about every last thing. The other kids called me stupid, a freak, or insane; because I would ask questions that would even perplex the teacher. I couldn't help it. It was just in my nature. When I was fifteen I wanted and tried to join the army. But with some 'unique' traits I was denied. For some reason I was the only one I knew that had a strange ability to see into the future, not perfectly but roughly correct, move objects with my mind, and other weird alien like stuff.
It has been almost two years since I was denied to join the military. The human race has advanced drastically. Colonizing worlds across the stars, large intergalactic star cruisers, and advanced technology for the armed forces that were at constant war with two alien races. The Zerg, a horrifying race of mutation and genetic manipulation, and the Protoss, a weird alien race with highly advanced technologies capable of destroying a planet at will if they wished it; these two races were always at war with us and themselves.
Things on earth were getting tough. With the galactic confederacy, our galactic government, highly taxing earth to fund the armies, my parents and I decided to move to the Meinhof system. A quiet system that had no real government influence controlling it. When we were getting on the cruiser, by this time I was 16, the military pulled me aside, scanned my genetic code, and restrained me. They restrained my family from getting close to me and forced them onto the carrier. I was taken to a military cruiser, was forced inside into a cyro area, basically freezing, and was put into a cold sleep. I wanted to join the military but not like this.
It seemed like an hour to me but was really four months I was awoken. Apparently I wasn't the only one that the military has taken. Boys, girls, some old, some young. I started asking around wondering what the heck was going on; apparently they were also all taken away from their family and put onto this cruiser. The cold, damp metal feel of the cryo room was almost unbearable against my skin. The intercom came on and announced, "Good morning. This is your captain, Sergeant cyro. (Pronounced ky-ro.) We have arrived at the training and research complex on the Castanar system." Castanar. I thought. That is on the other side of the galaxy. "Shortly we will have marines come down and organize you into squads. I want all of you off my ship in ten minutes prior to landing. Over and out." His voice faded and the intercom turned off. Simultaneously two marines walked in and organized us into two people squads. I was in the second battalion. My partner was a girl. "One girl and one boy. What do they have planned for us" I thought. She had lush, dark red hair, blue eyes, and a small but beautiful smile; we were about the same height. When the marines were busy with another squad, she turned to me and introduced herself. Her name is one that I will never forget for its beauty and for its horror. Her name was Sarah Kerrigain.
